Sling
A weapon that launches stones by swinging cords.

What it means
A stone rests in a cradle attached to cords. The user swings it and releases one cord to launch the stone.
Judges 20 describes accurate left-handed slingers from Benjamin. In 2 Kings 3, soldiers armed with slings attack a city.
How it appears in the Bible
In 1 Samuel 17, David removes Saul’s armor because he is not used to it, then chooses five smooth stones from a stream. He takes one from his bag and launches it with his sling. It strikes Goliath’s forehead, and Goliath falls face down.
Translation note
This sling works by swinging cords rather than drawing back an elastic band.
