A sacred chest associated with Israel’s covenant and God’s presence.

What it means
The ark was a gold-covered wooden chest made according to instructions given to Moses.
It held the covenant tablets and stood at the center of Israel’s most sacred worship space.
How it appears in the Bible
It was carried during Israel’s journeys and later placed in the inner sanctuary of Solomon’s temple.
