What it means
Levites cared for the tabernacle and later served in various temple duties, including music, guarding, teaching, and assistance.
Every priest was a Levite in the biblical system, but not every Levite was a priest; priestly service belonged to Aaron’s descendants.
How it appears in the Bible
Levites received towns and support from Israel’s offerings rather than one large tribal territory.
