What it means
Exodus 12 instructs households to choose a one-year-old male without defect from the sheep or goats and put its blood on the doorposts and lintel. They ate the roasted meat in haste with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Later generations were to remember how God passed over the marked houses and spared them from the plague.
How it appears in the Bible
Luke 22 describes Jesus and his disciples preparing and sharing a Passover meal. Paul also uses Passover sacrifice to explain Christ’s death in 1 Corinthians 5.
