Sabbath
The seventh day, kept holy to God by resting from work.

What it means
Genesis says God rested on the seventh day after completing creation, then blessed the day and made it holy. The commandment in Exodus gives this as the reason for observing the Sabbath.
The rest included children, male and female servants, foreigners living among the people, and livestock. Deuteronomy also calls Israel to remember being brought out of slavery in Egypt, so that servants may rest just as their masters do.
How it appears in the Bible
In Mark, Pharisees object when the disciples pluck grain on the Sabbath. Jesus says the Sabbath was made for people. In the next scene, he asks whether it is lawful to do good and save life on the Sabbath, then heals a man with a withered hand.
