A room on an upper level, used in biblical scenes for lodging, meals, and prayer gatherings.

What it means
In 2 Kings 4, the woman of Shunem proposes a small room on the roof for Elisha, furnished with a bed, table, chair, and lamp stand so he can stay there.
In Mark 14, Jesus sends two disciples to prepare the Passover meal in a large upper room. They find things as he described and make the preparations.
How it appears in the Bible
Acts 1 describes the disciples praying with the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. In Acts 20, Eutychus falls from the third floor during the gathering; Paul goes down and embraces him. The boy is later brought in alive, comforting the people.
Translation note
The expression describes a location within a building. Its use in several passages does not establish that all the gatherings took place in the same room.
