Measures & money
Bath
A biblical liquid-volume measure, commonly used for oil or wine.
Also called · bath measure
What it means
The bath measured capacity and was presented as the liquid counterpart of the ephah.
Its reconstructed volume varies, so modern liter figures are explanatory estimates.
How it appears in the Bible
Kings uses baths for the temple basin’s capacity, while Ezekiel demands honest bath and ephah measures.
Translation note
Often estimated near twenty liters, but ancient standards were not perfectly uniform.
