Measures & money
Homer
A large biblical capacity measure equal in Ezekiel’s system to ten ephahs or ten baths.
Also called · kor
What it means
The homer was used for substantial quantities of agricultural produce and should not be confused with the smaller omer.
Because underlying standards varied, modern volume estimates are approximate.
How it appears in the Bible
Leviticus connects land valuation with a homer of barley seed, and Ezekiel defines ephah and bath by the homer.
Translation note
Homer and omer are distinct Hebrew measures despite their similar English spelling.
