Ephphatha
An Aramaic command meaning “Be opened.”
What it means
In Mark 7, Jesus takes a deaf man with a speech difficulty aside and says Ephphatha. Mark preserves the word and immediately explains that it means be opened.
How it appears in the Bible
The man’s ears open and he speaks clearly. Jesus tells the people not to tell anyone, but they spread the news more widely.
