Incense Altar
A small gold-covered altar where fragrant incense was burned.

What it means
It was made of wood overlaid with gold and stood inside the sanctuary near the veil.
Priests burned prescribed incense on it morning and evening, while other offerings were not to be placed there.
How it appears in the Bible
Luke places Zechariah’s priestly service at the time of the incense offering in the temple.
Translation note
It is distinguished from the larger bronze altar used for sacrifices.
